APPLY NOW: FALLING WALLS VENTURE application deadline extended until 31st August

Some start-up competitions what to be hip, loud and trendy. However, according to what I’ve experienced in the last two years, the FALLING WALLS VENTURE is the opposite.

For me, integrity, calm and professional exchange on a high level are the characteristics of this event. The start-ups pitch their ideas in front of a top-class jury at the FALLING WALLS VENTURE and the winner can present their start-up to the 700 participants of the FALLING WALLS conference on the next day.

The application deadline for the FALLING WALLS VENTURE has now been extended until 31st August. You can find more details here.

We conducted an interview with Angela Rittig from the FALLING WALLS.

WUNDERDING: There are a lot of start-up competitions – what makes the Falling Walls Venture unique?

Angela Rittig: Falling Walls Venture presents the large entrepreneurial potential that can be found in scientific research – in all disciplines and fields. On November 8th in Berlin, we’ll be bringing together the best science start-ups with corporate representatives and investors from all around the world. As such, start-ups will be gaining access to valuable contacts within companies and within the Venture Capital scene as well as to innovators and scientists from around the entire world.

In addition, Falling Walls Venture is a part of the Falling Walls program. All start-ups can take part at the Falling Walls Conference and the supporting program for free and can network and be inspired there.

And last but not least, all Falling Walls events aim to offer a unique and inspiring experience and that makes us stand apart from a lot of events within the science area.

WUNDERDING: Why is what Falling Walls has to offer, worth more than a cash prize?

Angela Rittig: At Falling Walls, decision-makers from science, economy and corporations meet. Therefore, we don’t only offer start-ups the chance to gain access to an international and top-level network, but they also experience media-related visibility, get personal feedback for their company, benefit from an interdisciplinary exchange and new input for the further development of their start-ups.

The winners and participants of the previous years have gained a lot from that in the last years. For example, EyeTech Care, the Falling Walls Science Start-Up 2015, found an investor thanks to their participation. In a survey amongst the start-ups 94 % of the surveyed people said that they would recommend taking part at the Falling Walls Venture. This is also indicated by the fact that  we’ve had a lot of applications of previous participants.
